What is the ICAT course?
The Integrating Communications Assessment and Tactics (ICAT) course, is a training program that provides first responding law enforcement officers with the tools, skills, and options they need to successfully and safely defuse a range of critical incidents.
Can I adopt ICAT into my own training programs?
For those agencies that are interested in learning more and may want to adopt ICAT into their own training programs, PERF will be hosting a national conference in mid-November. Please check back here for details.
What is the ICAT approach to police work?
The ICAT approach counsels officers to move cautiously upon arrival, communicating more with dispatchers to obtain additional information about the subject, rather than immediately taking charge of a scene where someone isn’t wielding a gun.
